Working in a limited space with a five-week outage duration, the Kiewit team engineered, procured, constructed and performed startup of the air quality control system to tie it into Brayton Point’s Unit 3 at New England’s largest fossil fuel-fired power station.
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) awarded Kiewit-Alarie, a Partnership (KAP), the design-build contract for the redevelopment of the Wawaitin, Sandy Falls and Lower Sturgeon hydroelectric Generating Stations (GS) on the Upper Mattagami River and the Hound Chute GS on the Montreal River.
The Kiewit and Henkels & McCoy team (Kh&m) was selected to construct the New Jersey portion of the new Susquehanna to Roseland Electric Reliability Transmission Project.
The Kiewit team engineered, procured and constructed the 800 MW natural gas-fired facility with four 200 MW Siemens?? 5000F(4) simple cycle units and selective catalytic reduction (SCR), oxidation catalysts, exhaust gas-tempering air fan systems and three fuel gas compressors.
KCP&L and Westar Energy selected the team of Kiewit and Sargent & Lundy LLC to engineer, procure and construct the retrofit to the 1500 MW plant. The La Cygne Generating Station Environmental Retrofit Project includes the installation of two Hitachi wet FGD scrubbers and new Hamon fabric filters on Unit 1 and Unit 2; and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, low-NOx burners and over-fire air system on Unit 2 of the facility.
Kiewit was selected by Public Service Electric & Gas (PSEG) for engineering and procurement services on the Northeast Grid Reliability Project. The project included upgrading existing tranmission lines, converting substation configurations and adding underground circuit to increase capacity while reducing transmission system congestion.
Located 5 miles southwest of downtown Memphis, the Allen Combined-Cycle Plant is a 1,100 MW natural gas-fired power plant that replaces Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) almost 60-year-old Allen Fossil Plant. Kiewit was the EPC contractor for the new 2x1 combined-cycle facility, which features two GE 7HA.02 combustion turbines and a Toshiba steam turbine.?
The Kiewit team consisting of partners from Eastern District, Kiewit Power Constructors, Kiewit Power Engineers, and Mass Electric was awarded the contract to engineer, procure, construct, and start up the Homer City AQCS Project Units 1&2.?
Mass. Electric Construction Co (MEC) installed one of the largest community solar projects in Massachusetts. Situated on 200 acres of the historic St. Joseph’s Abbey, the Spencer Community Solar Farm is 100% subscribed with a rating capacity of 14.7 MW (AC). This installation is comprised of more than 61,000 solar photovoltaic panels powering 1,500 local homes.
The project included the design and construction of transmission structure foundations, including upgrading and converting existing 138kV to 230kV with new structures, power conductors and OPGW. The project also incorporated the demolition and reinforcement of existing 138kV structures.
